Google is notorious for killing off products just a short time after launch, with many arguing that the company does not give new services a proper chance to grow. A prime example of this is Stadia, which lived just from 2019 to 2023, despite the firm pitching it as a premier solution to play AAA games via the cloud. Now, another Google service is receiving similar treatment, less than four years after inception.

About a week ago, Google announced that it would bring some of the best software features from Google's latest Pixel devices, like Magic Eraser, Camouflage, adding HDR effects to video, and more to Google One subscribers. This was quite surprising because it not only applied to Android devices but also included iOS handsets as well. Now, there are reports that the features have started rolling out to Google One subscribers, giving them some of the best perks of a Google Pixel without actually having to own one.

At its Made by Google event earlier this year, Google announced that it will give Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro buyers free access to VPN by Google One. However, the company said the feature won't be available at launch and would go live in select regions later this year. This led many to believe it would roll out with the December Pixel Feature drop. But Google has already started rolling it out to some users.

Do you remember the original Google Pixel phone and its tempting perk? At the time, the company needed to boost the device's sales -- as it was the first generation of the Pixel branding. As a result, it offered unlimited, full-quality Google Photos storage for life. This particular perk remained a first-gen Pixel exclusive -- as a lifetime of unlimited, high-resolution photo storage is a major commitment for Google. If you're a postpaid T-Mobile customer and miss this specific Pixel perk, we have some good news for you. Starting April 26, eligible T-Mobile customers will get the option to store unlimited, full-quality photos and videos on Google Photos. This will be through an exclusive Google One plan that costs $15 per month.

Back in 2020, Google added a VPN to the package, intended for use on public Wi-Fi networks and other places where you trust Google more than the internet service provider. That feature was initially limited to Android devices, but now it's available on iOS too.

Meanwhile, Google One is a paid cloud service and includes perks like a VPN, premium photo editing features, and support from Google experts.

For a long time, transferring your information from an old phone to a new phone once you switched over to the latest and greatest thing could either be a very simple task or a very annoying one. You could use a proprietary transfer tool from your OEM, which would allow you to move most files over from your old phone, or you could use the more comprehensive Titanium Backup if you had root access. Alternatively, you could use the built-in backup tool available to all devices with Google Play Services installed, or a similar one offered by the Google One app.

Now, Google is rolling out another feature for the VPN that will let you easily pause the VPN with a single tap.

Google One is one of the lesser-known services of Google. For starters, it’s a paid cloud storage service from Google, with plans ranging from 100GB all the way up to 30TB. With Google Photos set to drop free unlimited backups from June 1, there’s been renewed interest surrounding Google One and its various plans. Storage purchased from Google One plan can be used with Google Photos and various Google services, including Drive, Gmail, and Docs. Besides, Google also throws in some freebies on higher-tier Google One plans, such as up to 10% cashback on Google Store purchases. In October last year, Google added another nifty perk for the subscribers of top-tier plans: access to a virtual private network. The VPN service is available to Google One Android subscribers on 2TB and above plans. Since its debut, the VPN service hasn't received any new features or improvements. But it looks like that's set to change soon.
