Both chipsets are built on the 12nm process, which should consumer 48% less power than comparable 28nm chips.

Last week, we wrote about some big changes in the latest unreleased beta build of MIUI 9 for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. The build was quickly pulled because it showed off some radical design changes for MIUI. Just about every major aspect of the system UI was redesigned from the lock screen, notifications, recent apps, quick settings, volume panel, and more. The build had an Android P-style design in some regards and could be what we end up seeing in MIUI 10. One thing we missed from that earlier post (because the build was taken down so quickly) is that the fullscreen navigation gestures (as found in the latest MIUI 9 betas on the Redmi Note 5 and Mi Mix) are receiving some tweaks. Latest MIUI 9 build for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 brings Android P-style UI changes
While MIUI's design language is a far cry from the new Material Design in Android P, that doesn't mean Xiaomi can't adopt some of Android P's style. The latest MIUI 9 update for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is here with a redesigned interface.
With the introduction of Android P, Xiaomi released a near-stock build of Android P for the Mi Mix 2S. While we still aren't sure what the next version of MIUI will look like, it appears that an upcoming version of MIUI 9 will bring a redesign to the lock screen, notifications, recent apps, quick settings, volume panel, and more. Version 8.5.11 of MIUI 9 has leaked online for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (based on Android 8.0 Oreo) and a few users have taken it for a spin to show off what the redesign looks like.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 MIUI 9.5 Global ROM now rolling out in India
Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable update to the Redmi Note 5 in India. (The Indian Redmi Note 5 is a re-brand of the Redmi 5 Plus in China, and should not be confused with the Redmi Note 5 Pro.). The update brings MIUI notifications in line with stock Android, and also comes with optimizations.
Xiaomi announced the global version of MIUI 9 back in November. The company began rolling-out the MIUI 9 Global Stable update to its devices in the same month, starting with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon variant. In January, the company released the MIUI 9.2 update for supported devices with new Mi Video and Mi Drop apps. Then, a few weeks ago, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain stated that the MIUI 9 update was now available for all supported Xiaomi India smartphones, going all the way to nearly four-year-old devices such as the Xiaomi Redmi 1s and the Mi 3.

The device launched in India with MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat, but it later launched in China with MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo (Android 8.1 in particular). The China stable ROM can be flashed on the Indian global variant, but there are a few bugs that are keeping most people away. Now, however, the Android 8.1 Oreo-based global beta ROM has been leaked for the Indian Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro!

Xiaomi has started rolling-out the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM to the Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm variant (Redmi Note 4X), Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm variant, Mi Max, and more. The update brings MIUI notifications on par with stock Android.
In November, Xiaomi launched the global version of MIUI 9. The update began rolling out to the first batch of phones in the same month, starting with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. Then, in January, the company started rolling-out the MIUI 9.2 Global Stable update to supported devices, including the Redmi Note 3.

The MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM is now available for all supported Xiaomi devices. The list of devices includes almost four-year-old devices like the Redmi 1s and the Mi 3.
Xiaomi announced the MIUI 9 China ROM back in July. Then, in November, the company officially announced the global version of MIUI 9. MIUI 9 Global is different from the Chinese version of MIUI 9 as it's intended for international markets and includes Google Play services.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi Mix receive iPhone X-style gestures in latest MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM
Xiaomi has implemented iPhone X-style gestures in the latest MIUI 9 Global Begta ROM (8.3.1), or MIUI 9.5 or above. The list of phones supported includes the Mi Mix, the Mi Mix 2, the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus, the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and upcoming full-screen devices.
The advent of 18:9 "full-screen" displays has meant that capacitive buttons have been replaced by on-screen buttons. For example, a 6-inch 18:9 display has more screen area than a 5.5-inch 16:9 display because of its increased height (as the width remains the same). However, the presence of onscreen buttons in phones with 18:9 displays means that some extent of the screen area gained has been spent in the onscreen navigation bar.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Tidbits: Bottom Front-Facing Camera, Wireless Charging, ARCore Support
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will launch on March 27th with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Digging into firmware files, we have uncovered several pieces of information: it will have a bottom front facing camera, wireless charging capabilities, and ARCore support.
Xiaomi may not be the first device maker to launch a device with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (that crown goes to Samsung with the Galaxy S9), but they were certainly the first to announce a device with the chipset: the Mi 7. For whatever reason, the company pushed back the release date of the Mi 7 and is instead poised to announce the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S in its stead. Although the device has a launch date, the only information that has been officially confirmed is the fact that its sports the Snapdragon 845. Through firmware files XDA-Developers has exclusively obtained, we earlier reported on several key pieces of information about the device, and today we return with new tidbits of information.
