If you consider yourself a true flashaholic, then the name "Resurrection Remix" should ring a bell. The custom ROM is known for its style and customizability, while its foundation is based on bits and pieces from LineageOS, Pixel Experience, and OmniROM. The developers started rebasing the project on top of Android 10 a few months ago, and they are now confident enough to remove the beta tag. The Resurrection Remix team has recently announced its first set of stable builds based on Android 10 for a bunch of devices, including several Xiaomi smartphones and a few others from ASUS, OnePlus, Samsung, and other OEMs.

In a recent statement to our Editor-in-Chief, Mishaal Rahman, OnePlus has confirmed that RAM boost and DC dimming won't be coming to its older phones.

OnePlus usually does a decent job of bringing some of the new features it launches with its latest flagships to older devices. Over the last year, however, the company has failed to release a few such features, even though it publicly announced that the features will be made available on older devices. Our Editor-in-Chief, Mishaal Rahman, recently reached out to the company inquiring about the features that were promised, but not released, for older phones, and here's what he learned:

The team behind the popular Paranoid Android custom ROM released the first stable Android 10-based build earlier this year in April. Since then, the team has rolled out two more stable releases with new features and support for more popular devices. With the Quartz 3 release last month, the team added support for a couple of Xiaomi devices and revealed that they were working to extend support for a few more popular phones, like the Google Nexus 6P, Xiaomi Mi A2, Redmi Note 7, and more. Now, the team has started rolling out Paranoid Android Quartz 4, which brings support for a few of these devices and adds a couple of noteworthy features to the ROM.

OnePlus smartphone owners: Here's how to check the health of your battery

OnePlus Diagnostic is an official app from the company that helps you to check the health of the battery of your OnePlus phone running OxygenOS.

OnePlus, like most other Android device makers, doesn't offer removable batteries on their smartphones. On a journey to make its smartphones slim as well as dust and water resistant, OnePlus made it really hard for a novice to swap out an older degraded battery for a new one without paying a visit to a service center. However, the company does have a really handy diagnostic app that can give users a clear insight into the health of their battery.

Earlier this year in April, the team behind the popular Paranoid Android custom ROM released Paranoid Android Quartz 1 — the first stable Android 10-based build of the ROM. At first, the ROM was released for a handful of devices and it included a ton of new features, like screen stabilization, a built-in screen recorder, FOD support, vibration adapted UI, and more. Soon thereafter, the team released Quartz 2 with 4 new features and support for more devices. And now, the team has started rolling out Paranoid Android Quartz 3 with support for 8 Xiaomi devices and a couple of new features.

Earlier this month, the team behind the popular Paranoid Android custom ROM released Paranoid Android Quartz 1 — the first stable Android 10-based build of the ROM — for a handful of devices. While there have been several unofficial Paranoid Android builds floating around on our forums, Paranoid Android Quartz 1 was the first stable release from the team since their Android Nougat-based builds. For the initial stable release, the team added a boatload of features to the ROM, including things like screen stabilization, a built-in screen recorder, FOD support, vibration adapted UI, and more. Building upon the feedback on the Quartz 1 release, the team is now rolling out Paranoid Android Quartz 2 with 4 new features and support for a few more devices.

LineageOS may be the most popular custom ROM out there, but that doesn't mean there aren't also other popular aftermarket builds. Custom ROMs like Pixel Experience, OmniROM, Resurrection Remix, and Paranoid Android also have a large number of fans. Each of these custom ROMs offer their own take on what the Android experience should be like. Paranoid Android was known for its style and innovative features back in the day, and even if they aren't as large as they used to be after their original members were scouted by Nextbit (and later Razer), their remaining team members are still releasing new builds from time to time. After releasing a few beta builds based on Android 10 back in October, the Paranoid Android team has now announced the first stable releases for a handful of devices including the Essential Phone and a few others from ASUS, OnePlus, and Xiaomi.

[Update: OTA Downloads] OnePlus 3/3T receive final security update with October 2019 security patch

OnePlus has now started rolling out the final update for the OnePlus 3/3T featuring the Android security patch for October 2019.

While OnePlus started its journey back in 2014 with the launch of the OnePlus One, it wasn't until the launch of the OnePlus 3/3T that the brand gained mainstream popularity. Both the devices have aged quite well over the years, with a number of people still using them as their daily driver. And OnePlus has done its part by providing prompt OS and security updates over the last three years. While most OEMs promise only 2 years of updates, OnePlus promised an additional year of security updates, which was relatively rarer at the time of the announcement. Thus, according to OnePlus's software maintenance schedule, the OnePlus 3/3T have finally reached the last leg of their update cycle and, as promised, OnePlus has now started rolling out the final security update for the two devices.

Since then, several devices have received Android 10-based custom ROMs, including the Xiaomi Redmi 2, Moto G 2015, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, HTC 10, HTC One M8, Realme 3 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S7, Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, Lenovo ZUK Z1, and Sony Xperia XA2. Most recently, the Xiaomi Mi A3, Moto G5S Plus, LeEco Le 2, Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, Samsung Galaxy A5 and Huawei Mediapad M3 Lite got a taste of Android 10. And now, six more devices, including the OnePlus 3/3T, Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 & Mi 6X, Huawei P Smart 2018, Samsung Galaxy A70, and Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra, have joined the list.

OxygenOS 9.0.4 for the OnePlus 3/3T brings June 2019 security patches

OnePlus is rolling out yet another update for the OnePlus 3/3T with performance improvements and Google security patches from June 2019.

The original "flagship killer" brand, OnePlus, earned much of criticism when it pulled the plug on updates for the OnePlus 2 earlier than promised. The same mistake, however, wasn't repeated with the successors – OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus 3 was launched three years ago with Android Marshmallow while the OnePlus 3T arrived later on in the year with Android Nougat. Both of these devices have recently received a stable update to OxygenOS 9 based on Android Pie and this is not only great for these smartphones but also reassuring for the owners of OnePlus 5/5T, which is now due for retirement. More so, OnePlus is not stopping at the Pie update and has now released some more bug fixes for the OnePlus 3/3T.

It's finally time for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users to get their hands on stable Android Pie. The community beta kicked off in April and the company is ready to roll out the official update now. The incremental roll-out of the update, that is, Oxygen OS 9.0.2 has been initiated already.

OnePlus rolls out a second Android Pie beta for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T

OnePlus maintains an active channel of beta updates for its users, routinely testing out new features in OxygenOS for its smartphones. While the relative newness of the OnePlus 5/5T and the OnePlus 6/6T earns them most of the company's attention in updates, the company has not forgotten older models - OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. After almost a year of assuring, the company recently announced Android 9.0 Pie for the OnePlus 3/3T as part of a Community beta to weed out bugs or inaccuracies before rolling out a stable version. Moving forth with the testing, the company is now bringing the second beta update for the two smartphones based on Android Pie.

Good news for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners around the world: Android Pie is coming. After a brief closed beta, a public beta has now been released!

It wasn't too long ago that we saw OnePlus get into a huge controversy for prematurely killing their 2015 flagship, the OnePlus 2, by not following up on their update promises. Back then, they promised an update to Android Nougat for the OnePlus 2, which launched with Android Lollipop and was later updated to Android Marshmallow. This update was, however, only released for its successors, the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T, while the OnePlus 2 was left in the dark, with no possibility of an official update despite reiterated promises. OnePlus has greatly corrected this behavior since then, though. Not only have they released a full 2 updates for the OnePlus 3/3T (Android Nougat and Android Oreo), but a third one, based on Android Pie, has also been promised and now seems to be coming sooner than later.

Potato Open Sauce Project (no, I did not type that wrong), or POSP in short, is one of the newer multi-device ROMs out there. POSP by Team Potato starts off with an AOSP base and adds in select features from other open source projects, as well as adds in other new features. For instance, the latest release of POSP (v2.2) brings back the expandable volume panel from Oreo to Android Pie.

OnePlus will integrate Google Duo into OxygenOS dialer, contacts, and messaging apps

OnePlus officially announced that Google Duo will be integrated into the OxygenOS dialer, contacts, and messaging apps soon.

Duo and Allo were initially announced back at Google I/O 2016. While the Google Assistant-infused messaging application didn't receive much love, the video calling platform gained a lot of popularity. It has over one billion downloads and 3 million mostly positive reviews on the Google Play Store. It even comes built-in to most Android devices. Google has also integrated it in the Phone application. As far as we're concerned, none of the device manufacturers followed the search giant's lead, until now.

With the bezels of our smartphones shrinking more and more every day, OEMs have had to decide where to put the sensors that take up space The front-facing selfie camera has had top priority and companies such as Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO have come up with innovative ideas to keep them accessible. It's been easy to slide the earpiece to the very top of the bezel, but some of the newer phones (such as the Pixel 3 and the OnePlus 6T) have still opted to not include a notification LED at all.

OnePlus Switch 2.1 adds support for migrating Launcher, Wallpapers, and Desktop Layout

The OnePlus Switch 2.1 is here, which adds support for migrating your launcher, wallpapers and your desktop layout as well.

The OnePlus Switch application was released at the beginning of this year and makes migrating to a new OnePlus smartphone as easy as possible. At first it wasn't all too great, however, it has really improved over time. You can transfer over your application data, your downloads, and pretty much everything else you can think of, but it was missing one thing. You couldn't migrate pretty much anything relating to your launcher, including the wallpapers and desktop layout. That's changed in the latest version of the app, OnePlus Switch 2.1, which is now available on the Google Play Store. It does not appear that you will be able to migrate the layout of any launcher that isn't the OnePlus Launcher, however.

Many of our readers might remember Paranoid Android. It was once a top contender in the Android ROM scene for many different reasons: Innovative features, a slick user interface, you name it. The ROM lost much of its steam after the Android 4.4 KitKat builds, but they eventually returned with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and later, Android 7.1 Nougat. While they were pretty late to the Android Nougat game compared to competitors like LineageOS, their builds were still really stable and feature-rich. Now AOSPA is back in the game again with Android 8.1 Oreo builds, as we reported previously, and we now have builds for the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5, and OnePlus 5T.

There was a void left behind when Google shifted away from the Nexus program to focus on the Pixel brand. Many would agree that OnePlus has been able to fill that void with their high-end hardware, premium design, and respectable update speed while keeping the price from getting too inflated. With Google releasing the source code to Android 9 Pie recently, many of the community developers here have begun their work on ports of the new Android Pie update for a handful of OnePlus smartphones including the OnePlus X, OnePlus 2, OnePlus 3, and OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus X and OnePlus 2 did not receive the Android Nougat update, so this will be a major version bump for those devices. On the other hand, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are promised an official Android Pie update, so these ROMs will be a nice way to experience the latest release before the official update.
