We've seen it go through several major updates since then, but LineageOS has continued to bring a stock Android-like experience (and Google-free, if you choose) to dozens of phones and tablets. Now LineageOS 19 based on Android 12 is here officially, and this is what you get with the official builds.
OnePlus drops software support for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T
After three years of delivering software updates to the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, OnePlus has finally announced end of software support for the devices.
In July last year OnePlus shared its updated Software Maintenance Schedule, promising three major Android upgrades and four years of security updates for its flagship devices. However, the new schedule didn't apply to some of its older flagships. OnePlus only promised two major OS upgrades and three years of security updates for the OnePlus 7 series, while the aging OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T were not even mentioned in the updated schedule.

OnePlus might be slow to update many of its phones to newer versions of Android, but the company still does a (mostly) decent job of keeping the security patches coming. The OnePlus 6 and 6T are three years old at this point, but security updates are still trickling out for both phones, and now the November 2021 patches have arrived.

The custom recovery is open source and it supports hundreds of devices. Today, the project has been bumped to version 3.6.0, bringing Android 11 support, many improvements in decryption, new features, a whole lot of newly supported devices, and a major change to the way TWRP is installed.

It’s finally time for OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T users to get their hands on the stable Android 11 update. The first Open Beta build was available about a month ago. Within a few weeks of that release, we saw the arrival of a second and third Open Beta. Now, just two days later since the last beta, OnePlus is releasing the stable update to OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 6 series.

Last week, Microsoft officially unveiled Windows 11. While it won’t be available to the general public until the end of this year, the first preview build of Windows 11 is already out to Windows Insiders. Alongside the x64 build that most users have installed, there's also an ARM64 build for Windows on ARM devices like the Surface Pro X. The ARM64 build is intended to be installed on supported Qualcomm processors, but that’s not stopping tinkerers from using it to port Windows 11 to unsupported devices.

Having launched in 2018 and having been superseded 3 generations ago, it's hardly high-end anymore: the Snapdragon 845 that powers it is roughly equivalent in raw horsepower to smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 765G from last year. Nonetheless, it's still a respectably serviceable smartphone that keeps getting security updates after all these years. Both smartphones are also due to receive an update to Android 11 very soon, but in the meantime, the company has begun rolling out May 2021 security updates for both devices.
